A 29-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after a reported weapons incident in the city’s downtown.
Peterborough Police say officers were called around 12:30 p.m. on May 8 to the area of Simcoe and George streets after reports that a man had allegedly brandished a knife and threatened another person before leaving the scene.
Officers located a suspect matching the description nearby and took him into custody.
The accused has been charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failure to comply with a release order and failing to comply with a probation order.
Police say the man was already bound by a release order prohibiting him from possessing weapons as defined under the Criminal Code.
He was also subject to a probation condition requiring him to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday court on Saturday.
