Parks Canada says the Trans Canada Trail crossing at Lock 20 in Ashburnham will temporarily close Monday morning as crews remove a temporary bridge installed during rehabilitation work.
The closure is scheduled for May 11 and is expected to last up to four hours beginning at 8 a.m.
The temporary “Bailey” bridge had been in place since November 2025 to maintain safe public access while work was completed on the Lock 20 gate replacement project along the Trent–Severn Waterway National Historic Site.
Parks Canada says the replacement project has now been successfully completed and the temporary structure is no longer needed.
Officials say the closure is necessary to safely complete the final stage of the project and thanked the public for its patience and cooperation.
The agency says the work supports the long-term sustainability and safe operation of the historic waterway system.
