The largest annual fundraiser for those living with Alzheimer’s disease is fast approaching, destined to support thousands of local residents with dementia as well as their families and caregivers.
The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s will be held May 30th, 10 a.m. to noon, at Beavermead Park. With a goal of raising $130,000, participants will raise funds for, and awareness of, the close to 15,000 people in the region that live daily with dementia.
Society executive director Jen Johnstone says “there’s something special about the walk” that has been clearly evident each year.
Johnstone says all money raised from the walk supports local people with dementia and their caregivers.
Featuring community booths, carnival and outdoor games, a petting zoo, live music and more, the event, says Johnstone, has a celebratory feel with hope at its centre.
