The Ontario Provincial Police will hold a procession Thursday afternoon to honour Sgt. Brandon Malcolm, the Northumberland officer killed in a motorcycle crash on Highway 401 near Cobourg earlier this week.
Ontario Provincial Police say Malcolm died Monday after a single-vehicle collision on Highway 401 eastbound near Burnham Street North. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say a procession will escort Malcolm from the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto to Oshawa on Thursday.
The procession is expected to leave Toronto at about 1 p.m. and travel eastbound along Highway 401.
The OPP is asking that only approved police vehicles and designated members take part in the escort.
Members of the public wishing to pay their respects are encouraged to gather safely on overpasses along Highway 401 between Keele Street and Thickson Road South.
Police are asking the public not to stop on the highway or obstruct traffic.
The OPP says the procession will be livestreamed on its YouTube channel and members of the public may also sign an online book of condolences in Malcolm’s memory.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized.
