100 Women Peterborough has selected Peterborough Child and Family Centres as the recipient of its first collective donation of 2026.
Members gathered for the group’s first meeting of the year and voted to support Peterborough Child and Family Centres, a local organization that has provided free family supports across Peterborough city and county for nearly 45 years.
The organization offers barrier-free programs for families from pregnancy until children begin school, including prenatal education, parent-child programming, breastfeeding support and well-baby clinics.
Officials say the services are offered without wait-lists, referrals or fees, with a focus on making early-years support accessible to families when they need it.
Peterborough Child and Family Centres chief executive officer Nicola Lyle said the funding will help support pregnant mothers, babies and young families across the region.
“This support is more than a donation, it’s an investment in healthier beginnings for children and stronger foundations for families,” Lyle said in a statement.
The group says the donation reflects continued community support for accessible, evidence-based services aimed at reducing barriers for families.
Rosalea Terry, one of the founding members of 100 Women Peterborough, said the group has now contributed more than $250,000 locally since launching in 2018.
Terry said the milestone reflects the impact of grassroots giving and the power of collective community investment.
The other organizations presenting at the meeting were the New Canadians Centre and New Stages.
