Residents in the Kawartha Heights area will soon have a chance to weigh in on planned changes coming to their local park.
A public drop-in session is scheduled for Thursday (April 30) from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Peterborough Sports and Wellness Centre, 775 Brealey Dr. City staff will be on hand to outline proposed upgrades to Kawartha Heights Park and answer questions from residents.
The park, located at 2229 Kawartha Heights Blvd., currently includes a playground, soccer field and basketball court. The proposed work would update existing amenities and introduce new features designed to better serve the neighbourhood.
The project is planned in two phases. Phase 1, targeted for 2027, includes upgrades to the ball diamond or rectangular field to a Level B standard along with formalized parking. Phase 2, planned for 2028, would add a splashpad, a pet exercise area and a multi-use sports court. All work remains subject to budget approval.
A public survey is also open at connectptbo.ca/kawartha, with paper copies available at City Hall, 500 George St. N. The survey runs until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026. Feedback collected will help guide the final design of the park improvements.
Project details, including updates, a site plan and survey results, will be posted online as the process continues. Residents with questions can call 705-742-7777 ext. 1829.
