A 30-year-old Peterborough man is facing a new charge after attempting to flee police following a courthouse arrest on Wednesday.
Police say that around 3:50 pm the man attended court and was advised of an outstanding warrant. The warrant included multiple charges, including fraud under $5,000, several theft-related offences, failure to attend court and fingerprinting requirements, disobeying court orders, failure to comply with release conditions, and uttering threats causing death or bodily harm.
Police say the man ran from the courthouse on foot after being told he was under arrest. Officers pursued him, with assistance from additional patrol units, and he was taken into custody in the Water Street and King Street area.
He was arrested on the strength of the warrant and is also charged with resisting a peace officer.
