OPP and Trent Hills Fire Department are teaming up once again to help make Christmas a little brighter for families facing financial challenges.
The two emergency services are supporting the annual holiday toy drive, collecting new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items for children, individuals and families throughout Northumberland County.
Donations will be distributed through local agencies supporting residents experiencing hardship during the holiday season.
Constable James Clarke, Media and Community Engagement Officer with Northumberland OPP, says the campaign highlights the generosity of the community.
“One of the greatest strengths of Northumberland County is the willingness of residents to support one another,” said Clarke.
“Whether it’s a toy for a child or food for a family facing challenges, every donation can make a meaningful difference during the holiday season.”
Residents can drop off new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food donations at three Northumberland OPP detachments until Friday, December 11.
Donations will be accepted Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the following locations:
-
Cobourg OPP Detachment: 1165 Division St., Cobourg
-
Brighton OPP Detachment: 95 Dundas St., Brighton
-
Campbellford OPP Detachment: 20 Industrial Dr., Campbellford
The Trent Hills Fire Department will also host a special collection event on Saturday, November 28, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Firefighters will be collecting donations at Canadian Tire and Giant Tiger in Campbellford, with Northumberland OPP officers also hoping to participate.
Trent Hills Fire Chief Shawn Jamieson says the continued support of local residents plays an important role in helping families during the holidays.
“The continued generosity of our community helps ensure local families receive support when they need it most,” said Jamieson.
“Donations of toys and food can have a tremendous impact, bringing comfort, joy and hope during the holiday season.”
The annual toy drive distribution evening is scheduled for Tuesday, December 15, at 7 p.m. in Campbellford.
Organizers are thanking residents for their ongoing generosity and encouraging anyone who can contribute to help make the campaign another success.
