For 70 years, the Petes have been a point of pride in the Peterborough community.
A new historical book is being released that takes a closer look at the great players and people behind the oldest continuously operating franchise in both the Ontario Hockey League and the entire Canadian Hockey League.
“Petes By Numbers” by Gary Baldwin and Kevin Varrin, will be launched on Sunday ahead of a game with the Niagara IceDogs to commemorate the exact date (November 8, 1956) of the franchise’s very first home game at the Memorial Centre.
Baldwin sat down with PTBOTODAY.ca to discuss how the idea for the book came to be.
When it comes to the impact the organization has had on the region, Baldwin believes the relationship has been amazing.
Looking at the action on the ice, Baldwin tells us why Niagara made sense to be the opponent on Sunday.
The book launch will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame.
