Multi-awarded Canadian singer and songwriter Roch Voisine is on his way to Peterborough, bringing with him his love and respect for the music of the late Gordon Lightfoot.
Voisine will headline The Lightfoot Sessions November 4th at Showplace, performing, in an acoustic format, such timeless classics as Sundown and If You Could Read My Mind.
An Officer of the Order of Canada and Juno Award recipient, Voisine has sold millions of albums worldwide over a career that now spans 40 years.
He says for all he has accomplished musically, paying homage to Lightfoot and his music has been a long time coming, dating back to the mid 1970s when, as a teen, he wore out the grooves of Lightfoot’s 1975 album Gord’s Gold.
Voisine says Lightfoot’s songs will always resonate with audiences.
Voisine says despite being in the music business for four decades, his motivation to perform, and perform well, hasn’t waned in the least.
Voisine was inducted into Canada’s Songwriters Hall of Fame earlier this year – 23 years after Lightfoot was the hall’s inaugural inductee.
Tickets to The Lightfoot Sessions cost $79.50 at www.showplace.org.
