The Peterborough Petes will face the Oshawa Generals on Thursday, October 22 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre for the inaugural Blue Ribbon Battle, a fundraising event supporting local prostate cancer care.
Presented by Prostate Cancer Support Peterborough and Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada (PCFC), the event aims to raise awareness and funds for men and families affected by prostate cancer. Inspired by the Petes’ annual Pink in the Rink event, the Blue Ribbon Battle will feature a ceremonial puck drop and silent auction.
Prostate Cancer Support Peterborough is a volunteer organization made up of patients, survivors and caregivers who provide support to men and families navigating a diagnosis. PCFC works nationally to advance prostate cancer awareness, research and support programs.
Organization member William Campbell says that 100% of game proceeds will go towards prostate cancer support efforts. As a cancer survivor himself, he says the cause is especially close to his heart.
Campbell encourages the community to attend, spread the word and help make the inaugural event a success.
Game time is 7:05 p.m., with tickets priced at $20. Tickets and donation information are available at BlueRibbonBattle.ca.
