The Trent Excalibur women’s lacrosse team will have home-field advantage as it looks to defend its provincial championship this weekend.
Trent University is hosting the 2026 Ontario University Athletics Women’s Lacrosse Championship from Friday through Sunday at Justin Chiu Stadium in Peterborough.
The three-day tournament will bring Ontario’s top university women’s lacrosse teams together to compete for the provincial title.
Trent enters the championship as the defending gold medallist after capturing the OUA title in 2025. The Excalibur have carried that momentum into this season, completing an undefeated regular season with an 8-0 record and finishing first in the league standings.
The program has established itself as one of the province’s consistent contenders, winning OUA championships in 2019, 2021 and 2025.
Trent also earned a silver medal in 2022 and bronze in 2023.
This year’s tournament presents an opportunity for the Excalibur to capture consecutive championships for the first time in the program’s recent history, while competing in front of their home supporters.
Trent will open its championship schedule on Friday at 7 p.m. at Justin Chiu Stadium. Competition will continue Saturday, with the tournament concluding Sunday, with the medal games.
