A 25-year-old Peterborough man is facing assault and threatening charges following a disturbance in the city’s downtown Wednesday evening that prompted a police response over a possible firearm.
Peterborough Police say officers were called to a parking lot on Brock Street, between George and Aylmer streets, around 6:10 p.m. on October 14.
The call involved a disturbance with a vehicle and reports of a possible firearm.
When officers arrived, they learned that the vehicle had already left the area following a confrontation between the driver and several people.
Police launched an investigation and identified the driver involved.
Officers later located the vehicle in the area of Perry Street and Aylmer Street, where the man was taken into custody.
Police searched both the suspect and the vehicle following the arrest but did not locate a firearm.
As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
