Two Peterborough residents are facing robbery charges following an incident at a Lansdowne Street business.
Peterborough Police were called to the Home Depot near Lansdowne and Park streets at about 6:15 p.m. on October 6 following a report of a disturbance.
Police say officers learned a man and woman had allegedly left the store without paying for merchandise.
When confronted by a loss prevention officer, police allege the woman attempted to strike the officer with a bag containing merchandise before striking him in the back of the head as he returned to the store.
During the altercation, police allege the 45-year-old man accompanying the woman pushed and grabbed both the loss prevention officer and a security guard.
The man and a 37-year-old Peterborough woman have each been charged with robbery with violence.
During the investigation, police also learned the man was wanted in connection with a separate shoplifting incident at the same store dating back to March 2025. He faces an additional charge of theft under $5,000.
