Kawartha Downs wrapped up its 2026 racing season with a record wagering handle of just more than $1.4 million – a 22 percent jump over the previous wagering record despite there being two fewer racing dates.
According to racing and wagering manager Lindsay Bax, the Fraserville track saw an estimated 45,000 turn out this season for on-track action.
That, she says, is the result of a commitment to make Kawartha Downs a welcoming for families as well as racing fans, despite a challenge early on.
Bax says delivering a great product for Kawartha Downs patrons reaped results.
There’s one final celebration on October 30 in the form of the Horsepersons’ Banquet, with dinner and awards beginning at 6 p.m. To purchase tickets, costing $20 each, email Bax at lindsayb@kawarthadowns.com or phont 647-505-3304.
