The Peterborough Police Service is reminding residents to respect election signs during the municipal election campaign.
Moving, defacing, and/or stealing election signs could be theft or mischief. An investigation could lead to charges.
Candidates or their third-party advertisers are encouraged to report any incidents involving vandalism of campaign signs or campaign materials to the police service of their jurisdiction.
If it is an emergency call 9-1-1. For other situations, a call to the non-emergency line may be appropriate or online reporting where pictures and videos can easily be uploaded.
