More than 60 people rolled up their sleeves in Norwood to help three local families move closer to affordable homeownership.
Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region says its Women Build ’26 raised $15,250 toward the construction of three homes in the community.
Over four days, participants worked alongside Habitat staff and volunteers, learning construction skills and helping with jobs ranging from using tools to raising walls.
Teams from Peterborough County, Leon’s Peterborough, ANDRITZ Hydro and Tom Reburn Realtor participated, along with presenting sponsor D.M. Wills Associates, which brought two employee teams to the build.
Community members were also able to participate through a Community Build Day.
“We had a really great week in Norwood,” Habitat PKR CEO Susan Zambonin said. “People showed up with their teams, their friends and their coworkers, and they were ready to get to work.”
The three homes will eventually provide affordable homeownership opportunities for three local families: a three-generation family of women, a single mother with two teenagers and a young family with two small children living on one income.
The week concluded with the Women Build Cocktail Celebration on September 25, bringing together participants, sponsors and supporters.
The $15,250 raised will go directly toward construction of the three Norwood homes.
