PTBOToday.ca asked councillor candidates to submit a brief bio, recent photo and short audio-recorded statement to represent their campaign.
My name is Rose Kitney and I am running for Councillor, Monaghan Ward in the upcoming municipal election. I have lived in Peterborough most of my life including East City, south and north ends and the west end and this is where my husband Paul and I purchased our first and then second larger home and raised our 3 sons. I have watched Kawartha Heights grow into what it is today and have done so with great admiration for the community and the people who live here.
I have had the privilege of being elected as public school board trustee representing the City of Peterborough for many years. In this role I have served on and chaired many committees both as trustee and elected as Vice-Chair of the Board 3 years running.
- Program Committee Chair & trustee member
- Special Education & Accessibility Committee trustee member
- Resource Committee Chair & trustee member
- Expulsion Committee trustee member
- Suspension Committee trustee member
- Budget Committee Vice Chair/Chair & trustee member
- Accessibility Committee Chair & trustee member
- Parent Involvement Committee trustee member
As a result of my work on the school board I have gained a great deal of experience, particularly in the areas of finance and operations. In my private work life I retired as a Regional Manager with a not for profit organization during which I held oversight for operations, budgets and the delivery of services throughout the Central East Local Health Integrated Networks (now Ontario Health at Home).
It would be an honour to bring my transferrable skills and experience to city council and as Councillor I will advocate and take action on behalf of constituents in Monaghan Ward.
