PTBOToday.ca asked councillor candidates to submit a brief bio, recent photo and short audio-recorded statement to represent their campaign.
I was born in Peterborough. I went to school here, had my first part-time job here, started my career here and am raising my family here. Like many of you, I care for, and am invested, in Peterborough. Regardless of whether you have lived in Peterborough for 60 years or 6 months, this is our home and we all deserve a city council that listens to the concerns of its residents and responds to them with clarity and real action. My experience of working with families and communities, has taught me this.
I will bring to the next council an informed and thoughtful approach to decision making that puts sustainability, action and the best interests of the people who live here first.
I will bring this approach to council because as a former Children’s Aid Worker, who now works in regional health care, I have spent my career finding workable, long-term solutions to complex situations. I understand how decisions and policies affect people in very real ways and my focus has always been on finding the families and households that I work with common-sense solutions that work for them at their kitchen table and their day-to-day lives. I want to apply these skills in the next city council to make life for the families and residents of Monaghan Ward, easier, safer, fairer and more fulfilling for our community and our great city.
