A free event aimed at helping Peterborough-area entrepreneurs navigate the challenges of running a modern business is returning for a third year.
The Modern Entrepreneur Experience will take place Tuesday, October 20, at The Roy in downtown Peterborough as part of Small Business Week.
Organizers say the half-day event will feature three workshops, a catered lunch and networking opportunities, with this year’s sessions focusing on storytelling, e-commerce, marketing and using a business’s local identity as a competitive advantage.
The speaker lineup includes Peterborough entrepreneur Susan Tung, whose local hospitality businesses include Mei Mei, Hanoi House and Electric City Catering. Her keynote will explore how businesses can use their local connections to stand out. Actor, filmmaker and former radio personality Megan Murphy will lead a session on using storytelling to build stronger connections with customers and make brands more memorable. Solid Leather owner Jesse Bateson will lead an e-commerce workshop examining how entrepreneurs can build a business around both their financial and personal goals.
Participants can register for one, two or all three workshops, along with the catered lunch.
The free event is presented by the Business Advisory Centre and Community Futures Peterborough, with support from the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area.
The Modern Entrepreneur Experience has sold out in each of its first two years. Community Futures Peterborough launched the event in 2024, with its second edition held during Small Business Week in 2025.
