Music, storytelling and lived experience are coming together in October to help people rethink what belonging looks and feels like for a young child.
Organized and presented by the Five Counties Children’s Centre, two Listen with Love concerts are scheduled – the first on October 20th for families and the general public, and the second on October 21st for early childhood educators. Both events start at 7 p.m., with pre-registration at www.fivecounties.on.ca.
The concerts are behind held to promote inclusion and introduce Five Counties’ new Roots of Belonging initiative via the perspective of Hannah Bailey, a Five Counties staff member and Peterborough mom raising a son with a rare genetic condition.
Bailey challenges people to look beyond differences and start challenging the systems that children are expected to fit into, all while creating environments where they can belong as they are.
Bailey says her raising her son has taught her the best teacher is very close by.
Listen with Love is being held in conjunction with Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day.
