The Ontario government is investing more than $6.1 million in hospitals and health-care infrastructure across Northumberland-Peterborough South.
MPP David Piccini announced the $6,183,459 in funding Wednesday, with money going to Northumberland Hills Hospital, Campbellford Memorial Hospital and the Community Health Centres of Northumberland.
Northumberland Hills Hospital will receive the largest share at $4,583,613. That includes $2.91 million in additional base funding for 2026-27, representing a 3.1 per cent increase from the previous year.
Another $1.28 million will support infrastructure improvements, including replacement of the hospital’s cooling tower, while $389,200 in surgical recovery funding is intended to support additional procedures and address demand.
Campbellford Memorial Hospital is receiving $1,410,776. That includes nearly $1.12 million in additional base funding, representing a four per cent increase, along with $175,576 for infrastructure improvements.
Another $118,500 will fund additional CT hours to expand diagnostic imaging capacity.
The Community Health Centres of Northumberland will receive $189,070 for HVAC upgrades at its Port Hope location.
Piccini said the investments are intended to give local health-care facilities additional resources to improve infrastructure and access to diagnostic imaging and surgical care.
Northumberland Hills Hospital president and CEO Susan Walsh said the funding will help the hospital address infrastructure needs and growing demand, including surgical services.
Campbellford Memorial Hospital CEO Jeff Hohenkerk said the investment will help expand CT capacity and improve clinical infrastructure while the organization continues working toward a new hospital.
