Trent University has cancelled in-person classes at its Symons Campus in Peterborough for the remainder of the week following a watermain break affecting the campus’s primary water service.
The university says the disruption is affecting water availability across campus, forcing the temporary closure of buildings and services while repairs are completed.
Officials say there is no imminent risk to personal safety.
Residences at Symons Campus are closing effective 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 22. The closure affects Champlain, Lady Eaton, Otonabee and Gzowski colleges.
Students living in those residences are being asked to make arrangements to return home if they are able. Student Housing will contact residents directly, and limited food services will remain available while students arrange to leave.
The cancellation applies to in-person classes at Symons Campus for the rest of the week. Classes and operations at Traill College and Trent’s Durham GTA campus will continue as scheduled.
The university has not announced when water service will be fully restored or when affected campus buildings will reopen.
