Not unlike many, Peterborough mayoral candidate Neil Morton was curious to find out if current mayor Jeff Leal would seek re-election this fall.
As is now well known, he is not, but Morton, who is seeking the city’s top elected position along with six other candidates, says he is “doing his thing” regardless, and that would have been the case if Mayor Leal had joined the fray.
Morton says he has heard much on the campaign trail from residents, noting taxes and affordability are front of mind for many, but something else is jumping out as an area that needs attention.
Morton says while his first experience seeking election to political office has been “a steep learning curve,” it has been “one of the greatest experiences of my life” that calls upon “a team effort.”
Morton says his campaign has gifted him the opportunity to see Peterborough through a different set of eyes.
Morton says the weeks leading up to the October 26th election will see him host small get-togethers, continue door knocking and attend as many community events as he can.
