The Art Gallery of Peterborough is getting an increase in provincial operating funding beginning next year.
The gallery says its Ontario Arts Council multi-year operating grant will increase by 7.1 per cent for three years beginning in 2027.
The funding is provided through the Ontario Arts Operating Fund, which supports arts organizations across the province.
The AGP also received a B+ rating from the Ontario Arts Council as part of the funding assessment.
Gallery officials say the continued investment will support exhibitions, care of the AGP’s collection and accessible arts programming for the Peterborough community.
“We appreciate the additional funds and the recognition of the work we do here at the AGP,” said gallery director Celeste Scopelites.
She also credited the City of Peterborough, gallery staff, volunteers, board members, educators, sponsors and members for contributing to the organization’s success.
The Ontario Arts Council says funding levels are changing for roughly half of returning organizations applying for operating support this year, based on factors including program objectives, performance measures and assessment results.
According to the OAC, 27 per cent of returning applicants received an increase, while 45 per cent will receive the same amount as in 2025-26.
Another 11 per cent received reduced funding and 12 per cent will exit the operating funding program.
Of 26 organizations newly applying for operating funding through the spring application deadlines, 38 per cent were admitted into the funding stream.
The Art Gallery of Peterborough did not specify the dollar value of its new three-year grant in the announcement.
