Peterborough-Nogojiwanong Pride Week returns this month with 10 days of events and celebrations across the community.
The 2026 edition runs from September 18 to 27, with this year’s theme, “Woven Together,” highlighting connections and support within the region’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
The City of Peterborough will mark the beginning of Pride Week with a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall on Friday, September 18 at 12:15 p.m.
Mayor Jeff Leal says the week provides an opportunity to celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ community while recognizing that discrimination, including homophobia and transphobia, continues to affect local residents.
“This year’s theme, ‘Woven Together,’ speaks to the connections we share and the importance of supporting one another,” said Leal.
One of the week’s largest events, the annual Peterborough-Nogojiwanong Pride Parade, takes place Saturday, September 26.
The parade is scheduled to leave City Hall at approximately 1 p.m. and travel along George Street to Millennium Park. Pride in the Park will then continue at the park until 5:30 p.m.
Several events are also planned at City facilities.
The Peterborough Public Library will host a ReFrame PRIDE screening on September 18 at 7 p.m., featuring the films The Queen and I Like Girls, followed by a question-and-answer session.
The Art Gallery of Peterborough will hold a special Pride Family Sunday on September 20 from 1 to 4 p.m., featuring free drop-in art activities for all ages.
Peterborough-Nogojiwanong Pride Week is community organized, with activities throughout the 10 days focused on celebration, connection, learning and participation.
