Fifty-four students beginning their studies at Fleming College this fall are receiving a combined $120,000 through a new entrance scholarship program and donor-funded awards.
The college is welcoming its first group of entrance scholarship recipients as the Fall 2026 semester gets underway.
Fifty students will each receive $2,000 through Fleming’s new Entrance Scholarships program, representing $100,000 in financial support.
Another four students entering environmental science programs at the Frost Campus will receive $5,000 each through scholarships established by The Pick Family Foundation.
Fleming’s first-ever Entrance Scholarships program was announced in April and includes 10 awards in each of five categories: mature learners, skilled trades students, applied health students, students entering the new Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program and Fleming graduates returning to college.
“At the beginning of a new academic year, we are reminded of the ambition, talent and potential our students bring to Fleming,” said Interim President Dr. Theresa Knott.
Knott said the scholarships are part of a broader effort to reduce financial barriers and expand access to post-secondary education.
Recipients are beginning programs across several areas of the college, including Health and Community Services, Trades and Technology, and Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences.
The four $5,000 Frost Campus scholarships were established by The Pick Family Foundation in honour of the late business leader and philanthropist Tom Pick.
Those recipients were selected based on academic achievement and are entering programs focused on understanding, protecting and managing the natural environment.
The other 50 scholarships were funded through the Fleming Forward Fund.
Fleming says the new awards complement existing donor-funded scholarships and needs-based bursaries aimed at helping students at different stages of their education and careers.
All entrance scholarship recipients were selected based on academic achievement and eligibility requirements for their respective awards.
