A 22-year-old Cavan Monaghan Township man is facing several charges after a weekend crash in Peterborough that left a passenger injured.
Peterborough Police say officers were called to the Manor Drive and McGuire Drive area at approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday, September 5, after receiving a report that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a parked vehicle.
When officers arrived, they learned the driver had allegedly fled the scene, leaving an injured passenger behind.
The passenger was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment before being transferred to a Toronto hospital. Police did not provide further details about the extent of the injuries.
Police say the driver turned himself in the following day.
He was charged with failing to stop at an accident resulting in bodily harm.
During the investigation, officers also learned the accused was prohibited from driving and was subject to several other driving restrictions.
He was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act with driving while under suspension, driving without a licence, careless driving and driving a motor vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock device.
The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court in December.
