Peterborough residents will see several changes to municipal services and facility hours for the Labour Day holiday on Monday, September 7.
City Hall and several administrative services will be closed for the day, while transit will operate on a reduced schedule and curbside waste collection will continue as usual.
City Hall offices, including Service Peterborough, Building Services, the Clerk’s Office and Provincial Offences Office, will be closed Monday. Water Services Customer Service will also be closed, although emergency assistance remains available.
The Peterborough Public Library’s downtown branch will be closed. Library card holders will still be able to access the Miskin Law Community Complex branch from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. by using their library card and PIN.
The Peterborough Museum and Archives will be open from noon until 5 p.m., while the Peterborough Visitor Centre at the Lift Lock will operate from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Riverview Park and Zoo will maintain its regular 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. hours. Its splash pad will operate from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., while the miniature train and Guest Services will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., subject to weather and maintenance.
The Miskin Law Community Complex and Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre will both be open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Healthy Planet Arena, Kinsmen Civic Centre and McDonnel Street Community Centre will be closed. The Peterborough Memorial Centre and Grant Thornton Box Office will also be closed.
The Art Gallery of Peterborough will be closed for the holiday.
Peterborough Transit will operate on its Sunday/Holiday schedule. The Customer Service desk will be available from 9 a.m. to noon and again from 12:30 p.m. until 4 p.m.
There will be no changes to curbside waste collection on Monday.
However, the City/County Landfill on Bensfort Road and the Hazardous and Electronic Waste Depot on Pido Road will be closed.
City-operated parking garages, surface lots and on-street spaces will be free on Labour Day.
The Peterborough Regional Airport will operate from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Social Services offices and City-operated child-care centres will be closed, although emergency shelter services will remain available.
Residents can access a number of municipal services around the clock through the City’s online services.
