A Peterborough man is facing charges after a homeowner returned home early Sunday morning and allegedly found a stranger sleeping on his couch.
Peterborough Police say officers were called to a residence in the area of Peterborough Regional Health Centre at approximately 12:30 a.m. on August 30.
Police say the homeowner reported returning to his residence and discovering an unknown man asleep on the couch.
Officers arrived and allegedly found the man still sleeping in the living room before taking him into custody.
Following an investigation, a 53-year-old Peterborough man was charged with breaking and entering a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence.
Police say the accused was also bound by a probation order requiring him to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He was additionally charged with failing to comply with a probation order.
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on November 17.
