The Peterborough Petes have trimmed their roster as preparations continue for the 2026-27 OHL season.
General Manager and Vice President of Operations Michael Oke announced Saturday that 17 players have been reassigned following the team’s first preseason game.
The moves involve Theo Finch, Declan Ready, Nolan Gerow, Jonny Brooks, Keegan Shirley, Mason Quinn, Colton Lapierre, Sam Black, Owen Knight, Brandt Rooyakkers, Joseph Szarka, Harrison McLean, Marcus Sulug, Daniel Tout, Tyson Cartier, Cole McLennan and Ethan Cosker.
Oke said the decisions become increasingly difficult as the team moves deeper into its preseason schedule.
“These decisions are never easy, especially when you see the hard work and commitment that each player has put into camp,” Oke said.
He added that the organization will continue monitoring the development of the reassigned players for potential future opportunities with the Petes.
The roster moves come as Peterborough continues evaluating players ahead of the start of the regular season.
The Petes return to the Peterborough Memorial Centre for their next preseason game on September 9, when they host the Sarnia Sting.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
