Carol Anne Fisher is being remembered as an outstanding community builder.
Fisher died this week at the age of 78.
Fisher founded the Kawartha Komets, a hockey team built for children with special abilities. In a written tribute, it was said she did this because she every child deserved a place to belong.
Her family says Carol’s memory will live on in their gardens, in the birds that visit, in the sound of skates on the ice, and in every act of kindness offered to someone in need.
A funeral service for Carol will be held August 15, from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by a reception from noon until 2 p.m. A private interment will take place afterward.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Fairhaven Riverside 4 and the palliative care team at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
The family also adds donations in Carol’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
