Just after midnight on August 8, the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, alongside Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service, responded to a structure fire at a residence on Victoria Avenue North in Lindsay.
Nearby homes were evacuated, and the fire was successfully contained and extinguished, with no major damage reported to surrounding properties. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident; however, extensive damage was sustained to an attached carport and a vehicle.
The scene was secured, and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal was contacted to assist the Kawartha Lakes Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch with the investigation into the cause of the fire.
