A 41-year-old man wanted in several jurisdictions is facing new charges after being arrested following a reported theft at a Peterborough convenience store.
Peterborough Police say officers with the bike patrol and Community F.I.R.S.T. unit were called to a convenience store at McDonnell and Aylmer streets at about 9 a.m. Monday after receiving a report of a theft.
Police say the suspect fled the store before officers arrived, but was located nearby after officers searched the area. He was taken into custody without incident.
The man has been charged with theft under $5,000 and failing to comply with probation.
Police allege the accused was bound by a probation order requiring him to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
He was released on an undertaking with a court appearance scheduled for Oct. 20 before being turned over to another jurisdiction to answer outstanding warrants.
