The City of Peterborough has received more than $715,000 from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for hosting Shorelines Casino Peterborough.
OLG announced a first-quarter payment of $715,551, covering the period from April 1 to June 30.
Since the casino opened in October 2018, the city has received nearly $18.5 million through OLG’s municipal revenue-sharing program.
Host municipalities receive quarterly payments based on a graduated formula tied to gaming revenue generated at their local casino.
Peterborough-Kawartha MPP Dave Smith said the funding helps support local priorities.
“OLG sharing these gaming revenues directly with Peterborough allows our community to invest in the local priorities that matter most to residents,” Smith said. “From boosting community services to maintaining local infrastructure, these quarterly host payments from Shorelines Casino Peterborough are a key part of protecting and enhancing the critical services our families rely on every day.”
OLG says host communities across Ontario have received more than $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue since 1994.
The corporation says all of its profits are reinvested in Ontario, with host payments supporting municipal infrastructure, community services and local economic development.
