One person has been airlifted to a Toronto hospital with life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle collision in Peterborough on Wednesday afternoon.
Peterborough Police say officers were called to the intersection of Monaghan Road and Cameron Street at about 4:50 p.m. after a crash involving a car and a pickup truck.
Investigators say the car was seen travelling at a high rate of speed shortly before the collision.
The driver of the car was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre before being airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck was transported to Peterborough Regional Health Centre with minor injuries.
The intersection remained closed for several hours while members of the Peterborough Police Traffic Unit completed a collision reconstruction investigation and crews repaired damaged traffic lights.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
