The Township of Selwyn has announced the retirement of its longtime Manager of Financial Services and Treasurer, while naming a new financial leader to oversee the department.
Lane Vance will retire effective Sept. 30 after more than 35 years with the Township. Officials say his leadership helped guide Selwyn through changing economic conditions while maintaining responsible tax rates and long-term financial sustainability.
Vance’s successor will be Amanda Mellegers, a Chartered Professional Accountant, who will assume the role of Manager of Financial Services and Treasurer on Aug. 24. Her start date allows for a five-week transition period before Vance’s retirement.
Mellegers brings more than nine years of leadership experience in financial management, budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning. Most recently, she served as Director of Finance at Peterborough Regional Health Centre after advancing through several senior finance positions. Earlier in her career, she progressed from a CPA student to a management role at a local accounting firm.
Chief Administrative Officer Jennifer Moore praised Vance’s contributions to the Township.
“Since joining the Township, I have quickly come to appreciate the strong financial foundation that Lane has helped build over more than 35 years of service,” Moore said. “His professionalism, sound advice, and collaborative approach have earned the respect of Council and staff and positioned the Township well for the future.”
Moore added she looks forward to working with Mellegers as she brings “her expertise, leadership, and fresh perspective to the Finance Department.”
Mellegers said she is looking forward to the transition.
“I look forward to working alongside Lane during this transition period and learning from his extensive knowledge and experience,” she said. “I am excited to join the Township team and contribute to the continued success of the organization by supporting sound financial planning and decision-making for the community.”
The Township thanked Vance for more than three decades of public service and wished him well in retirement while welcoming Mellegers to the organization.
