What was a cash crop operation is now a thriving dairy farm, thanks in no small part to the efforts of brothers Ian and Joel Stillman.
Located off McGregor Bay Road near Keene, Jaemar Farms sees 36 cows milked twice daily, the result being 2,800 to 3,000 litres of milk produced every two days.
Having grown up on the generational farm, Ian says he and his brother bought the farm from their grandparents in 2018, and focused on cash crops before the opportunity to apply for a dairy quota arose.
Ian says converting Jaemar Farms to a dairy operation was a big move, but his ambition was fueled by a long-held desire to be a dairy farmer.
