Family and many friends of will gather next week to remember the strong and vibrant woman who stood firmly at her husband Jack’s side during his 45 years on Peterborough city council, six of those years as mayor.
Sheila Doris died June 6th at age 94.
Peterborough-born, Sheila met Jack on a blind date in 1950. At the time of his passing in 2023 at age 92, they had been married for a remarkable 72 years.
Trained as a Bell Telephone operator at a young age, Sheila later worked the switchboard at the Peterborough Clinic as well as volunteered for many years with Hospice Peterborough. As the spouse of a lifelong politician, Sheila’s interest in politics was one of many passions.
Funeral prayers for Sheila will be held at the Highland Park Funeral Centre on July 15th at 1 p.m., with a reception to follow. Donations made in her name to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre or Hospice Peterborough are requested.
