The Kawartha ATV Association has reached a major fundraising milestone, donating more than $100,000 to support patient care at Ross Memorial Hospital through a decade of annual Poker Runs.
This year’s event, held June 6, raised $15,579.44 for the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation, bringing the association’s total giving to $100,008.44.
More than 218 adult riders, 11 youth participants and 50 volunteers took part in the fundraiser, with support from over 50 local businesses and community partners who donated items for the event’s silent auction.
The donation was boosted by an anonymous contribution, helping the organization surpass its long-standing fundraising goal.
“There’s a reason KATVA’s Poker Run is so successful,” said RMH Foundation CEO Erin Coons. “We want to thank the riders, volunteers, sponsors and landowners involved in making KATVA’s Poker Runs such an incredible success. In 10 years, you have impacted local patient care with support for the Emergency Department expansion, the creation of a Mental Health Emergency Services Unit, and funding needs in the Mental Health Inpatient Unit, Operating Room and Diagnostic Imaging Department.”
KATVA’s Rhonda White said the milestone reflects the dedication of the organization’s members and supporters.
“This is something every member of the KATVA family should be proud of,” she said. “Thank you for helping us make a difference in our community.”
In recognition of reaching the $100,000 milestone, the Kawartha ATV Association will receive Founder-level recognition with a plaque on the 1902 Society Wall in Ross Memorial Hospital’s main lobby.
The organization has already set the date for next year’s Poker Run, which is scheduled for June 5, 2027.
