A 24-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges, including impaired driving and cocaine possession, following an incident on Canada Day evening.
Peterborough Police say officers were called to the area of Clonsilla Avenue and Lansdowne Street at about 7:45 p.m. on July 1.
Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle with damage to its front end. While speaking with the driver, police say they observed signs of impairment.
Following the man’s arrest, officers conducted a search and allegedly discovered a quantity of cocaine as well as multiple driver’s licences in his name.
The accused has been charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit, operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, possession of a Schedule I substance — cocaine, and possessing more than one licence under the Highway Traffic Act.
Police say the man received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 11, 2026.
Meanwhile, a second man connected to the vehicle was issued a provincial offence ticket for public intoxication under the Liquor Licence Control Act after allegedly interfering repeatedly with the police investigation.
The charges have not been tested in court.
