One person was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre following a serious two-vehicle collision in Selwyn Township on Friday afternoon, according to Ontario Provincial Police.
Peterborough County OPP, paramedics and fire crews responded to the crash on Tara Road, north of Ennis Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on June 26.
Investigators said officers arriving at the scene found a pickup truck on the shoulder with significant front-end damage, while a sport utility vehicle had come to rest on its side further from the roadway.
Witnesses told police the pickup truck was travelling southbound when the northbound SUV attempted to make a turn, resulting in the collision.
The driver and passenger of the SUV were both transported to a local hospital. Police said one of the occupants was later airlifted to a trauma centre in the Greater Toronto Area. Occupants of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries and were treated.
Tara Road remained closed for several hours as emergency crews worked at the scene and collision reconstruction officers documented and measured evidence.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam or other video footage and has not yet spoken with investigators to contact Peterborough County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
