Community Futures Peterborough (CFP) celebrated a record-breaking fiscal year at the organization’s Annual General Meeting Tuesday.
Business leaders, elected officials, board members, business owners and community partners gathered at the Venture North Building to hear about the success of CFP’s 2025-2026 year, as the organization celebrated over 40 years of supporting local businesses in Peterborough City and County.
Community Futures received more than $4.36 million in loan applications and disbursed 56 loans totaling over $2.06 million to local businesses across the City and County. Through these investments, the organization reported helping create or maintain 167 local jobs.
One of those 56 loan recipients was Jody Allen. She says CFP has helped her business, Smash Courts Pickleball, as they grew into a facility with over 12 indoor pickleball courts.
Allen commented on how CFP helped her connect with a vast community of other local businesses.
Since the organization’s inception in 1985 they have invested over $44 million in loan dollars to support over 1,900 small businesses in the community. They say this has directly created or maintained more than 4,900 jobs locally.
Community Futures Peterborough’s Executive Director Devon Girard spoke with PTBOToday about how CFP supports more than just businesses; they support the entrepreneurs who run them.
Girard echoes Allen’s testament of Peterborough City and County’s strong business community.
