Peterborough Transit is making a series of route adjustments later this month, with several school-related trips temporarily suspended for the summer and schedule changes taking effect on select routes.
The service changes begin Monday, June 29, and will remain in place until Sept. 8 on routes affected by reduced demand during the school break.
On Route 3 Park, weekday southbound trips departing Trent University at 7:25 a.m. and 8:25 a.m. will be suspended. The 7:45 a.m. trip will shift to 8 a.m. to maintain an hourly schedule. Northbound trips leaving Clonsilla at Summit Plaza at 7:05 a.m., 8:01 a.m. and 9:03 a.m. will also be suspended. The route will continue operating hourly.
Route 7 Lansdowne will see several weekday trips paused for the summer, including westbound departures from Willowcreek Plaza at 7:20 a.m. and Walker Avenue at Bramble Road at 7:45 a.m. Eastbound trips departing Willowcreek Plaza at 8:05 a.m. and Fleming College at 2:40 p.m. will also be removed until schools resume. The route will continue operating every 30 minutes.
On Route 9 Parkhill, weekday westbound trips leaving Trent University at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. will be suspended, along with the eastbound trip departing Parkhill Road at Medical Drive at 2:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, one early morning trip on Route 6 Sherbrooke is being permanently removed. The bus departing the Peterborough Transit Terminal at 5:57 a.m. and arriving at Trent University at 6:15 a.m. will no longer operate. Transit officials note riders can instead use the 5:51 a.m. departure, which follows the same route.
Peterborough Transit is also making several schedule refinements to Route 33 Bridgenorth following a review of the recently introduced service.
Beginning June 29, the first morning trip will start on Carnegie Avenue at Terraview Heights rather than Woodland Drive. Travel times on select northbound and southbound trips will also be reduced from 45 minutes to 40 minutes. In addition, the southbound trip from Bridgenorth Library will depart at 8:45 a.m., five minutes earlier than the current schedule.
Transit riders are encouraged to review updated schedules before travelling and monitor service alerts for any changes.
