The Pathway of Fame, Peterborough & District has unveiled its Class of 2026 inductees, recognizing seven individuals whose contributions have helped shape the region through community service, health care, arts, entertainment and philanthropy.
The not-for-profit organization, established in 1997, honours local citizens and individuals who have made significant contributions to the community and to the arts and humanities. The latest inductees will be formally recognized during a public ceremony at Showplace Performance Centre on Sept. 15.
Among those being honoured is Dr. Kim Curtin, recognized as a Community Builder for developing a two-year Family Medicine Registry Program in Peterborough in response to a request from Queen’s University in 2008. The program has since become a model for physician recruitment and retention, with more than 60 per cent of graduates remaining to practise family medicine in Peterborough city and county.
Also receiving Community Builder recognition are Keith Dalton and Elaine Orgill for their extensive volunteer work with Peterborough Action for Tiny Homes (PATH). The pair have played key roles in fundraising, land acquisition and project management efforts while also contributing behind the scenes to numerous productions with the Peterborough Theatre Guild.
Five-time Paralympian and world-record-holding archer Alec Denys is also being honoured as a Community Builder. Following a spinal cord injury, Denys dedicated himself to supporting others through peer mentorship with Spinal Cord Injury Ontario and leadership roles with several local organizations serving seniors and persons with disabilities.
In the Dramatic Arts category, Marion Griffin is being recognized for more than 50 years of involvement with the Peterborough Theatre Guild. Her contributions have included directing, producing, stage management, set painting and organizational leadership. Griffin is also an accomplished musician who continues to conduct community choirs and tutor students.
Wayne Robinson will be inducted in the Entertainment category. A singer, actor, producer and arranger, Robinson has been a familiar figure in Peterborough’s performing arts community for decades, contributing both on stage and behind the scenes through theatre productions, concerts and charitable performances.
Meanwhile, longtime auctioneer Rob Rusland is being honoured as a Community Samaritan. Through thousands of volunteer-led charity auctions over the years, Rusland has helped raise millions of dollars for community organizations and causes throughout the region.
Pathway of Fame officials say inductees are selected from community nominations reviewed by an independent selection committee appointed annually to ensure impartiality throughout the process.
The 2026 induction ceremony will take place Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. on the main stage at Showplace Performance Centre. Musical entertainment will be provided by The Heritage Trio before the ceremony. Admission is free and open to the public.
