The Board of Directors of Peterborough Regional Health Centre says President and CEO Dr. Lynn Mikula will step down later this year to take on a new leadership role in Toronto.
In a statement, the board announced Dr. Mikula will become President and CEO of Sinai Health in October 2026, marking a significant leadership change after more than 15 years with PRHC.
“Lynn’s leadership has had a lasting impact on PRHC,” said Board Chair Scott Milligan. “She has brought clarity to the organization’s direction, strengthened its foundation, and built a strong, collaborative leadership culture.”
Milligan said the hospital is grateful for her contributions and acknowledged the breadth of her influence within the regional health system.
“While we will be sad to see her go, this move is a testament to both her leadership and the incredible mark she has made,” he said.
Dr. Mikula said PRHC and the community have been central to her professional life.
“I am deeply grateful for the trust and support I’ve received over the years,” she said, noting her appreciation for staff, physicians, volunteers and donors.
She added that her focus in the months ahead will be on ensuring a smooth leadership transition.
“PRHC is a critical hub for the broad and diverse population it serves,” she said. “I am very proud of the work we’re doing to advance its role across the region.”
Dr. Mikula joined PRHC in 2011 as a general surgeon and went on to hold several senior leadership roles, including Chief of Staff, Chief Medical Executive and Executive Vice President. She later served as executive lead during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2023, she was appointed President and CEO, a period in which the hospital launched a five-year strategic plan, expanded its nursing and quality strategies, and introduced new initiatives focused on equity, reconciliation and workplace wellbeing. Under her leadership, PRHC also opened a Reactivation Care Centre and developed partnerships with Trent University.
Milligan said the board will work closely with Mikula and hospital leadership to ensure continuity as the transition approaches.
