Ontario Provincial Police have recovered nearly $290,000 worth of stolen vehicles, heavy equipment and tools as part of an ongoing theft investigation spanning multiple jurisdictions.
Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Community Street Crime Unit, working alongside the Grey Bruce Community Street Crime Unit, recovered the property at a location in Woodville.
The investigation began on April 27 when Grey Bruce OPP received a report of a theft from a rural property in Southgate Township. Police said heavy equipment, vehicles and tools had been stolen.
On May 28, Kawartha Lakes CSCU officers received information about the possible location of some of the stolen property and attended a Woodville property, where several of the items were observed.
Police obtained a search warrant and searched the property, which was vacant following a recent house fire.
Among the recovered items were a 2021 Case backhoe valued at approximately $70,000, a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas worth $60,000, a 2020 Dodge Ram Laramie valued at $75,000, a 2016 Toyota RAV4 worth $20,000, and a 2006 BMW 3 Series valued at $20,000.
Investigators also recovered a CAT skid steer with attachments, a John Deere riding lawn mower and wagon, and several tools, including a chainsaw, gas trimmer and grease gun.
The total value of the recovered property is estimated at approximately $290,000.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and two persons of interest have been identified. Charges are pending.
