A 36-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after a break-in at a residence in the city’s north end.
Peterborough Police say officers were called to a home in the Cumberland Avenue and Water Street area at about 9 a.m. Monday. The homeowner reported hearing a disturbance near a closed shed and later reviewed security footage, which allegedly showed a man entering the shed and attempting to start a motorcycle.
Police say the motorcycle did not start and the suspect left the property.
Officers searched the area and located a man matching the description provided by the homeowner a short distance away. During a search following the arrest, police say they seized a large quantity of pills and a pair of wire cutters.
As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old Peterborough man was charged with break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, theft under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.
Police say the accused was already bound by a probation order requiring him to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
