Peterborough Police say a person has died after being found in the water near the London Street footbridge.
Emergency crews were called to the area of the footbridge and Parkhill Road shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday following reports of a person in the water.
Officers responded to the scene, removed the individual from the water and began lifesaving measures before paramedics transported the person to Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
Police say the individual was later pronounced dead at hospital.
Investigators do not believe the death is suspicious at this time.
The identity of the deceased has not been released.
The Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
