A 21-year-old man from Peterborough is facing charges following an incident Monday afternoon in the city’s downtown area.
The Peterborough Police Service says officers were called at approximately 3 p.m. on May 25, about an unwanted person on a property near Hunter Street and Bethune Street.
Police say residents told officers the man was prohibited from having contact with them. When they attempted to remove him from the property, the suspect allegedly threw a rock at them before fleeing the area.
A short time later, officers located a man matching the suspect description near George Street and Simcoe Street and took him into custody.
As a result of the investigation, the accused has been charged with assault with a weapon and failure to comply with an undertaking.
Police say the man was already bound by conditions requiring him to stay away from both the residence and the individuals living there.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 26.
